Exciting news for Canadians! The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is expanding to include eligible individuals aged 18 to 64, starting in May 2025. This expansion will provide essential dental care access to nearly 9 million Canadians who previously may have faced financial barriers to oral health services.

At Stonegate Denture Clinic, we understand how important denture care is for overall oral health, and we’re here to help you navigate this new coverage. If you’re a denture wearer or considering dentures, the CDCP may help cover some of your treatment costs.

Application Schedule by Age Group:

• May 1, 2025: Ages 55 to 64

• May 15, 2025: Ages 18 to 34

• May 29, 2025: Ages 35 to 54

These staggered application dates are designed to ensure a smooth enrollment process for all eligible individuals.

What You Need to Know About CDCP Coverage

• Income-Based Coverage: The CDCP is not a free program; it is income-based. Patients will need to renew their coverage annually after filing their taxes.

• Co-Payments: Depending on your adjusted family net income, you may be responsible for a portion of your dental care costs:

• If your income is between $70,000 and $79,999, the CDCP will cover 60% of eligible service costs.
• If your income is between $80,000 and $89,999, the CDCP will cover 40% of eligible service costs.
This means patients may need to pay up to 60% of the cost, depending on their income bracket.

• Coverage for Dentures: If you need complete or partial dentures, the CDCP may cover a portion of the cost. However, not all denture services may be fully covered. It’s important to consult with your denturist to understand any potential out-of-pocket expenses.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for the CDCP, you must meet all of the following requirements:

1. No Access to Dental Insurance: You do not have any existing dental coverage through work, a family member, or other organizations.

2. Tax Filing: You (and your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable) must have filed your taxes in Canada for the previous year.

3. Income Threshold: Your adjusted family net income must be less than $90,000.

4. Residency: You must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
